STRAVINSKY A to Z: A collection of personal stories and remembrances
STRAVINSKY A to Z: A collection of personal stories and remembrances
On April 6, 1971, Igor Stravinsky died in New York at the age of 89. An iconic figure who played a prominent role in the history of 20th century music, Stravinsky's grandiose funeral took place, according to his wishes, in Venice. Since then, institutions around the world have honored his memory with various celebrations. We are happy to pay tribute to him with the publication in English of this book, STRAVINSKY A TO Z, dedicated to his memory.
STRAVINSKY A TO Z (original title, "Abécédaire Stravinsky") was published in French at the end of 2018. It was hailed by critics as a "thrilling work that explores a vast and sometimes surprising universe", "illustrated by admirable photographic documents" which "serves both as guide, for a first approach to the universe of Stravinsky as well as an anthology of the legacy left by one of the greatest musical innovators of the 20th century".
