The Bedlington Terrier is a small breed of dog that is named after the small mining town of Bedlington, in Northumberland, in North East England. The Bedlington Terrier is also commonly known as the 'Rothbury Terrier, ' the 'Rodbery Terrier' and the 'Rothbury's Lamb.' The breed was originally developed to hunt small vermin in mines. However in recent years the Bedlington Terrier has been used in dog races, dog sports, dog conformation shows, as a companion dog and as a general family pet. The breed is known to be extremely quick, athletic and capable of out swimming many water dog breeds. The breed has a unique coat which gives it a similar aesthetic appearance to a lamb.
