This is the story of just one of them - Roy J. Boyter, of the 29^th Division, 2^nd Batallion, 115^th Infantry Regiment, Company E. Roy served in the US Army between July 1943 and October of 1945 - a time of rapid developments and conflict. Roy survived a stint as a prisoner of war and was awarded the Purple Heart for his distinguished service.

From his early beginnings in 1925 to his death in 2018, Roy carried with him the lessons and wisdom of his time in combat.
