An obsession with spaceflight took him to MIT, where he was average at best, except in Joe Haldeman's science fiction classes, which lit him right up. Alas after publishing a few short stories, the need to make money to pay for all the things resulted in a long hiatus from the field. One thing led to many others, but eventually he joined the pandemic's Great Resignation and returned to his old true love of writing science fiction.
