Meet Lady Jane, a happy little brown hen who loves her coop, spending time with her friends, and getting treats from their human, Poppy. When Lady Jane and the other hens learn to fly, they think it's great! They can explore the outside world, and there are so many more bugs for them to eat. But Poppy has to make the fence taller so they can't escape, and now they hate their ugly pen.

The next day, Poppy calls out to the hens to let them know she's on her way down...but she doesn't have treats today. What is Poppy going to do to the coop? Was learning to fly worth it? And what will Lady Jane and her friends get up to next?
