Christopher J Finlay, Professor in Political Theory, University of Durham Christopher J Finlay is Professor in Political Theory at Durham University where is also currently the Head of the School of Government and International Affairs. After growing up in Northern Ireland, he was educated at Trinity College Dublin. He taught at University College Dublin and the University of Birmingham before taking up a chair at Durham in 2017. From 2010 to 2011, he was British Academy Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellow, and he held a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship, 2017-2019. He has written widely, particularly on the theme of violence in political philosophy and international political theory.
