Purpose Piece is written from the perspective of young musician Joanie. Joanie is convinced that her triangle does not serve a big enough purpose in the symphony. She feels like she must be like everyone else to be a good musician. But with the help of her friends, Joanie comes to appreciate the perfect purpose that has been in her the whole time. Joanie gains a new sense of confidence as she not only learns to love her special talents, but also learns to love herself.
