Eggeling, Julius: - JULIUS EGGELING (1842-1918), a native of Germany, was a professor of Sanskrit and comparative philology at Edinburgh University and secretary of the Royal Asiatic Society of London. His knowledge of Sanskrit led him to translate The Satapatha Brahmana found in The Sacred Books of the East. F. MAX MÜLLER (1823-1900) was a German author and orientalist who lived in England most of his life. As a professor at Oxford, he combined the studies of language, culture, and religion to create the discipline of comparative mythology. His body of work included The Sacred Books of the East, which he had edited.
