THOMAS ALDRICH BAILEY (1836-1907), a native of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, was editor of such publications as Atlantic Monthly and the New York Illustrated News. A poet and writer, he was also the author of many novels and volumes of verse. A.B. FROST (1851-1928), a renowned and prolific American artist of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, illustrated over ninety books and created hundreds of paintings and prints.
