Jessica Holter is poet, an activist for sexual health, a producer of romantic comedy events for stage and screen under her controversial brand, The Punany Poets. TELEVISION PRODUCTION: Often imitated, never duplicated, Jessica Holter is unique among American artists and producers, boldly combining sexuality, with education and social service, Holter delivers programming that is smart, cutting edge and unafraid. Jessica Holter, also known as Ghetto Girl Blue, is a gifted writer and visual artist and an anointed public speaker. She is most famous for creating The Punany Poets in 1995 when rapper Eazy-E died of AIDS complications in anticipation of a rapid spread among disenfranchised Black/African American women. BOOKS Jessica Holter is author of The Punany Poets' Verbal Penetration, a 325 page hardback poetry and prose anthology published by Zane in 2007. The Punany Experience: The War Between Tops and Bottoms was her debut novel followed by AKA Dead Man: An Epiphany Brenner Mystery. She has self-published other titles under her Punany brand including Cancer of Love, Punany The Hip Hop Psalms I, II, III, IV & V, Speak the Unspeakable, GGB's Art Book. EARLY YEARS Jessica Holter is a mother, author, an activist for AIDS awareness and a gifted orator. Born to an estranged Jamaican father and an Irish mother in 1969 in Berkeley, CA, and placed in Seneca Cottage http: //www.senecacenter.org/ before she was two years-old. She was raised in foster care in East Oakland, CA and attended attended public schools. She began public speaking at age 8 taking 2nd place in a Martin Luther King, Jr. oratory competition at Highland Elementary School, and found her calling. At Elmhurst, Junior High School Artis " LoveLady" Hopkins fine-tuned her gift of gab with Toastmaster's training. She attended True Vine Missionary Baptist church and became a youth evangelist, door knocking in the Acorn projects and singing at the Open Door Mission. The sudden death of her biological mother at age 10 lead her to lean heavily on the old rugged cross and by the age of 12 she had received a call to preach. Her gospel voice was groomed by the reverend Newton Carey, Jr. But her subsequent molestation and rape caused her plans for the pulpit to derail.
