Jane Frances Ruby's first novel, The Azurite Encounter, won the first-place prize in the novel category for the 2014 Royal Dragonfly Awards and first place in the young adult category at the 2016 Great Southwest Book Festival.
Ruby has a bachelor's and master's degree in chemistry from John Carroll University (Ohio). She spent over ten years as a technical writer and scientific researcher before switching to fictional writing. Her ski patrol, volleyball, sailing and hiking experiences rendered ideas for her novels.
