Othelllo. Othello, Moor of Venice
Othello, Moor of Venice
Avea un nume fara" de rusine si chipul ei cu-al Dianei semana. Cum pot sa cred ca s-ar putea schimba Deodata intr-un chip intunecat, Cum este-acel cu care-s inzestrat?
Her name, that was as fresh As Dian's visage, is now begrimed and black As mine own face.
Fragment:
"In following him, I follow but myself;
Heaven is my judge, not I for love and duty,
But seeming so, for my peculiar end:
For when my outward action doth demonstrate
The native act and figure of my heart In compliment extern, 'tis not long after
But I will wear my heart upon my sleeve
For daws to peck at: I am not what I am.
RODERIGO: What a full fortune does the thick-lips owe,
If he can carry't thus!
IAGO: Call up her father,
Rouse him: make after him, poison his delight,
Proclaim him in the streets; incense her kinsmen,
And, though he in a fertile climate dwell,
Plague him with flies: though that his joy be joy,
Yet throw such changes of vexation on't,
As it may lose some colour.
RODERIGO: Here is her father's house; call aloud.
IAGO: Do, with like timorous accent and dire yell
As when, by night and negligence, the fire Is spied in populous cities.
RODERIGO: What, ho, Brabantio! Signior Brabantio, ho!
IAGO: Awake! what, ho, Brabantio! thieves! thieves! thieves!
Look to your house, your daughter and your bags!
Thieves! thieves!
//Brabantio appears above, at a window.//
BRABANTIO: What is the reason of this terrible summons?
What is the matter there?
RODERIGO: Signior, is all your family within?
IAGO: Are your doors lock'd?
BRABANTIO: Why, wherefore ask you this?
Slujindu-I, doar pe mine ma slujesc.
Prea bine stie Domnul, nu-l iubesc si nu-i voi fi vreodata credincios.
Imi urmaresc doar telul dusmanos, si totul este prefacatorie.
Mi-oi arata cumplita dusmanie
De mult pe care-n inima i-o port.
Voi pune corbii sa-l manance, mort.
Infaptuiesc ce socotesc, sa stii,
Si-n tot ce fac nu par ce par a fi.
RODERIGO: Ii sufla-n panze negrului buzat
Norocul. si-i de soarta ajutat.
IAGO: Acuma du-te iute sa-l trezesti
Pe tatal ei. As vrea sa-i otravesti
Deplina bucurie. si mania
Atata-i-o. Vesteste miselia
De-Othello savarsita, peste tot.
Pe uliti si la rude. Tot ce pot
Voi face sa-i intunec fericirea.
Si mustele sa-i supere pornirea.
E fericit. Dar vreau sa pun la cale
Orice, sa-i schimbe fericirea-n jale.
RODERIGO: Aicea este casa lui Brabantio. Il strig acum.
IAGO: Sa-l strigi cat poti de tare,
De parca-ar fi un foc in departare
Si-ameninta sa mistuie in noapte,
Orasu-ntreg.
RODERIGO: indata trec la fapte. (striga):
Brabantio! Signore! Te desteapta!
IAGO: Talharii! Nici nu stii ce te asteapta!
Pazeste-ti casa, fata si averea!
//Brabantio apare la o fereastra de la etajul casei sale.//
BRABANTIO: De ce strigati? si care va e vrerea?
RODERIGO: Tot neamul vostru este-acasa oare?
IAGO: Vi-s usile inchise?
BRABANTIO: Ce-ntrebare! "
